TOOLEX has been making a line of Deep Hole Drilling products for over 50 years. Our products include but are not limited to Right-Hand or Left-Hand Trepan Heads, Solid Bore Heads, Pull Bore Heads, Drill Bars Drill Tubes, Crossover Adapters, Stubbies, Drill Bushings and Back Bushings. Additionally, we manufacture a complete line of component tooling such as Trepan Inserts in various sizes with dozens of grades chip breakers with over or under sizes. We also manufacturer Wear Pads that are Copper or Silver bonded, Nylon Stabilization Pads and Reamers.

All “Standard” TOOLEX Trepan Heads Are 4 Pitch Stub Acme Modified Threads. We also make an easy off design that is made with (1) or (2) T.P.I. (Threads Per Inch) or (4) Start Threads. All Solid Bore Heads come standard with the
appropriate (4) Start Thread unless specified otherwise. Lastly our Pull Bore Heads are a custom API thread but can be made with any thread needed. TOOLEX sells direct to customers or you may use one of our U.S. or International distributors. 

TOOLEX proven Dovetail Wear Pads provide a perfect buffer between material and Drill Head while still providing ample downhole stabilization.

TOOLEX goal is to provide you with a tool that performs better than your existing tool while reducing your overall tooling costs, change out / production time and eliminating unnecessary maintenance of your Solid Bore Head.

TOOLEX Solid Bore Heads are available in RH or LH threads. Our currently stocked Solid Bore Heads range from 2.000” – 2.500” Fixed Pocket Solid Bore Heads and 2.500” – 5.125” Cartridge Style Solid Bore Heads. We also manufacture Solid Bore Heads in excess of 5.000” upon request.

TOOLEX Pull Bore Heads use standard ISO cartridges and inserts so an unlimited number of carbide grades, geometric and lead angles are available for your specific application.

TOOLEX provides (2) styles of Pull Bore Heads: Fixed Pocket Pull Bore Heads and our proprietary Adjustable Pull Bore head line-up.

TOOLEX Pull Bore Heads utilize the same dovetail slide-in Wear Pad technology. This consistency in tooling will provide you a more consistent and predictable outcome with regards to stabilization, I.D. tolerance, RMS finish, change-over time and will also reduce in inventory cost.

Trepanning produces an annular cut and only removes material along that path. This can provide a reduction in overall project costs while recovering a core. TOOLEX offers a series of Trepan Heads with standard I.D. Threads, O.D Threads, Weld-On or “Driver Dog” Heads.

TOOLEX Trepan Heads are available from our stock in sizes from 1.750” to 6.00” cut diameters. Trepan Heads above 6.00” are available upon request. Toolex Trepan Heads come “standard” with a (4) Pitch Stub Acme Thread but can be built to your specific requirement.

TOOLEX Outside Exhaust Trepan Heads offer the advantage of not requiring a pressure head for operation and can be adapted to most conventional lathes. TOOLEX O.D. Exhaust Trepan Heads come “standard” with a (1) or (2) TPI Square Male Thread but can be built to your specific requirement.

Both Toolex Trepan Heads I.D. & O.D. Exhaust are available in RH or LH Threads for an overall range capable of 1.75” – 16.00”

TOOLEX Drill Bars or Drill Tubes are an extremely crucial element in the deep hole drilling process.

The drill bar bears most of the torque in the drilling process and is of paramount importance. At TOOLEX the variety of specifications for our Drill Bars are endless and are determined by our customers specifications and metallurgic needs.

TOOLEX manufactures Drill Bars from 4130 CD AQ series material, 1026 DOM or custom to you. TOOLEX Drill Bars can be manufactured with a centerless grind (+.000 -.003) or (when material size available permits) unground (CF/DOM mill finish) .

At TOOLEX Manufactured Drill Bars will be complete with a pre-determined/specified O.A.L (Overall Length) I.D. (Inside Diameter) and O.D. (Outside Diameter). We can anufacture Drill Bars with Large Diameters as well as tremendous overall length due to our selection of manual and CNC Oilfield Lathes. Call today for a quote!

Adapters are used in Deep Hole Drilling when a specific Drill Head needs to be adapted to a Drill Tube that is smaller.

Adapting (1) size down is industry recommended maximum when drilling.

TOOLEX Adapters can eliminate the numbers of Drills Tubes needed on hand, reduce inventory and speed up change-over time.

TOOLEX Adapters can also be specialty made to adapt (2) different thread details together

A Drill Bushing also called Starter Bushing, is the Bushing that fits inside your Drill Housing and houses the Drill Head during start up. The purpose of the Bushing is specific and must be precise.

At TOOLEX we provide you with the highest quality Drill Bushing, because we understand that the theory of. “START GOOD, END GOOD - START BAD, END BAD” applies to every bore.

TOOLEX Drill Bushings are made with an I.D. tolerance of + .0005” to + .0015” and are hardened to between 62-64 Rc. We feel that this combination of specifications will allow you the best opportunity to have an “on centered” startup time after time.

TOOLEX always stocks a large inventory of Drill Bushings for your immediate delivery. Additionally, TOOLEX also manufactures Bronze Back Bushings complete with O-ring Grooves.

Solid Bore Inserts are of triangular geometry and are the workhorse for the TOOLEX Solid Bore Heads. TOOLEX manufactures a line of triangular solid bore inserts that are of proprietary carbide grade and has 3 cutting edges. Our inserts are ground to precision. The combination of precise thickness, grade of carbide grade, nose radius and chip breaker have been the leading edge of our TOOLEX Solid Bore Heads for years with a phenomenal track record.

TOOLEX offers our proprietary insert in the following sizes: (#14), (#17), (#24), (#28). We do not reference our inserts as TPGX or TPMX but our TOOLEX proprietary insert is ground, has the same geometry as these referenced inserts, and can be a substitue

TOOLEX, Wear Pads stabilize and guide the drilling head from the guide bushing into the work piece and on through the entire length being drilled.

TOOLEX Wear Pads are stocked in our C5 and C2 carbide grades and more importantly precision ground to (+ or -) .001” tolerance. TOOLEX Wear Pads come in a variety of sizes such as .500”, .750” and .875” as dictated either by head size or the customer specifications.

TOOLEX Proprietary Pad (#1049) is Cooper bonded and currently available on the .750” Wear Pad.

TOOLEX Silver bonded or Cooper bonded Wear Pads are brazed onto a steel base and provides the perfect balance of rigidity and buffer between your drill head and the abrasive material being drilled.

TOOLEX Wear Pads are a dovetail design. This is “easy IN” and “easy OUT” design has proven to outperform many of our competitors allowing you to stay in the cut longer before stopping to replace them.

TOOLEX also carries a complete line-up of Nylon Stabilization Pads (see photo) in various sizes such as .550”(w) X 2.500”(l) and .700”(w) X 2.500”(l). These pads are sometimes used in various Solid Bore Heads for downhole stabilization.

TOOLEX Trepan Tips fit in a slot of the Trepan Head, lock in place and are the workhorse in the Trepan application.
The Trepan tip cuts a standard .750” groove in your material forming a hole which yields a core.

As mentioned, nominal width of the annular cut is .750” wide (actual is approximately .780”). However, TOOLEX also stocks Trepan Tips of .875” and 1.00” widths.

The TOOLEX Trepan Tips of (.750”) width fit perfectly on our standard Trepan Head. The TOOLEX Trepan Tips of (.875”) and (1.00”) are used to cut a wider groove in tough material that will not yield a tight chip or for simply reducing the core size.

Larger TOOLEX Trepan Tips are also used when drilling tighter diameter holes such 1.750” in which the smaller core could present a chip flow issue. TOOLEX also stocks many of our tips in over/under sizes so that you can drill holes of a non-nominal head size. TOOLEX Trepan Tips are stocked in either a C5 or C2 grade of carbide and with multiple chip breaker grinds for different material types drilled and chip formations desired. TOOLEX also stocks many different Trepan Tips in coatings such as TICN, TIALN and TIN which can be utilized in cases where your material being drilled is extremely hard to reduce cutting edge fatigue.

TOOLEX Reamers offer a quick method to enlarge an
existing hole or to improve the finish after trepanning a hole. Reamers offer the economy of fitting in the Standard TOOLEX Trepan Head – no special tooling needed.

TOOLEX 10° degree reamers, also called wipers, are very useful to clean out after a tip breaks and carbide is embedded in the material being drilled.

These 10° degrees reamers wipe the area clean, so a fresh start canoccur without work hardening the area.
